A little too much media exposure
Jade Goody. A topic that has saturated the media, and to be honest, one that is starting to get a little bit tedious for me. Fair enough she is dying but every other front page is covered with her face, what about the hundreds of other people dying from cancer in the UK, let alone the world, each day.
If you cast your minds back as far as 2002 you may remember the media criticising Jade's lack of general knowledge, which to be honest was, and probably still is, shocking. These comments were made even before those of 2007 when Jade made racist comments towards Shilpa Shetty. The Sun newspaper laid it out in no uncertain terms that she was a face of hatred. To be fair to her she has got past all that scrutiny and has done what she has for herself and her family. But this is all on her death bed, a little late in the day but at least she's started acting like an adult.
This experience has obviously changed her and she has won the hearts of millions but to me this is all a little to late. I'm not mocking her or saying what she's doing is wrong. Just gone a little far. But there was a reason why she was ridiculed by everyone, including the media. I'm guessing that she's doing what all mothers would do, she wants to secure a future for her children. Maybe Marrying a man like Jack Tweed wass not the best of ideas to start with, a man who has been jailed for attacking a 16 year old with a golf club, a man who she left because he cheated on her, one she said she would never get back together with. A good role model? I think not. At the end of 2007 she had an estimated wealth of between £2m and £8m. Perhaps now she should stop splashing her story all over the media and concentrate on not just the financial security of her children, which was probably secured over 2 years ago. Now is the time to stop the media circus surrounding her illness and have some private quality family time.
